John Wischmeyer teaches courses on the cinema at City Lit (City Literary Institute) in Covent Garden, Bishopsgate Institute and BFI South Bank. He has taught since 1999 – the first course being “Hitchcock One Hundred” during his centenary year. He ran a small independent cinema in the 1990s that was part of the community and showed new work as well a independent films. He continues to teach on a wide variety of subjects that range from the Golden Age of British Cinema to “Surrealism and the Films of David Lynch”, from film noir to neorealism, from musicals to the western.
